Carly Owns and Operates the Hotel and the Security Was Conveniently Sabotaged
While the theory may seem bonkers, let’s talk about why this may be the case. The security feed, alarms, and cameras went down at the Metro Court hotel, which Carly owns and operates.
Several people know by now that Carly despised Jack for recruiting her daughter, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), into the WSB. Carly has been out for blood ever since she found out.
She had also previously made threats to Brennan and made it no secret that she planned on getting revenge on the WSB station chief.
The whole situation with the pool seems suspicious, but the ownership of the hotel and Carly’s contentious relationship with Brennan may not be the only reason why Carly may be blamed for Jack’s death.
Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) may suspect that her nutcracker daughter, Willow Cain (Katelyn MacMullen), may have been the one who offed Jack.
Fans know that Nina would do anything to protect her selfish ingrate of a daughter, and she may give the PCPD a motive for Carly killing Brennan.
Now, Nina doesn’t know the specifics about the breakup, but she knows enough to cast some suspicion on his ex-girlfriend, who had an axe to grind.
Nina May Take the Opportunity to Implicate Carly
Another theory about Carly potentially taking the blame for Brennan may be Nina’s own heated threats toward Jack after he warned Willow not to mess with him.
Willow secretly recorded him, and Nina may take drastic measures to protect herself and Willow. She may approach the PCPD first and tell them Carly’s motive.
Fans know that several witnesses saw Nina threaten Jack at the Metro Court. However, Nina often makes desperate, impulsive, and foolish choices. So, I could definitely see her trying to make Carly appear guilty.
Brennan and Nina had discussed Carly’s hatred toward Jack and the fact that Carly conveniently had access to the security system, and with the alarms mysteriously inactivated, could make it appear as if the murder were an inside job.
Proximity plus motive matter in a murder case because they’re among the most powerful tools investigators and prosecutors use to establish opportunity.
So, with Carly, she had the motive, the means, and the opportunity, all of which combined could spell trouble. Not to mention the two people who were directly or indirectly connected to Brennan’s death.
Ava and Drew Were Responsible for Brennan’s Death
Of course, fans know that Ava Jerome (Maura West) and Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) were responsible since they are the ones with their genius master plan to drug Brennan’s drink.
Who knows what Drew gave Ava to drug Brennan? Drew claimed it was a generic sleeping pill, but whatever it was, it obviously killed this poor man.
Ava should have been much savvier about it, since she of all people would know not to mix a strong alcoholic beverage with a pill that knocks someone out.
So, with Drew and Ava being the guilty parties, they both hate Carly. Ava likely wouldn’t implicate Nina since she’s her supposed BFF.
And Drew may not have Carly on his current hit list, but he definitely wouldn’t mind if she were a convenient way to pin the crime on someone else.
Personally, I have no idea how exactly Brennan got into that pool, but spoilers tease the murder may be pinned on someone innocent who had enough of a motive to potentially be guilty.
That sounds a lot like Carly to me. Carly despised Jack, and she had motive and opportunity; since we all know the wrong person will be blamed at first, it could very well be Carly.
